  The "world gets worse and worse" fallacy

  witnesses commonly believe that the "world just gets worse and worse".

  this always puzzled me because:.

  1) if everything is worse, how can the world even exist at present - and.

  The world doesn't seen so gawdawful to me!

  I rather enjoy life, ups, downs, and tend to see things as getting better.

  I am not afraid of the world, some things are worth fighting for. Especially human rights. The UN is a good thing, by and large, yes I think the West has a better quality of life for all,

  other religions don't intimidate me, unless they are promoting a ''pecking order'', in which I beg to differ, and will become vicious if provoked.

  And will point out quite readilly, that it is the epitome of stupidity to take advantage of a ''god'' given freedom to develop a dogma that thus limits the same freedoms that allowed you to flourish.

  (you meaning off-shoot religions)

  Corollary to Minimus Meeting Poll: How Many of You ENJOYED Them?

  as i think back over nearly a half century of going to meetings that i can count on one hand the number of meetings that i could label as inspirational or in the least bit exhilirating.

  i think many if not most jws regard meeting attendance as a duty, or test of their perseverance, a sort of installment pre-payment on their idyllic post-armageddeon homesite,.

  was there ever a point in your life that you enjoywed and looked forward to going to the meetings?

  The meetings are redundant, boring, and repetative.

  That is why people back bite, gossip, and attack each other there. It is like chickens in a pen, they get bored and will peck each other to death!

  I was forced to go to ''meetings'' (funny how jw's don't object to the word church anymore), until I was 16. I never bought into the crap. I was quite the rebel.

  I researched the org. at the age of 14, found cult books (non- fiction) at the library, telling all the stuff about the millerite movement, Rutherford, etc. Back then, the dubs denied any knowledge of them. At least in the congregation We attended.

  Nobody had a clue, I confronted them, and was told that it was a lie. It was bogus, I hated them all, found them boring, stupid, brainwashed, and backwards. Not my cup of tea.

  Also the they never practiced what they preached. Of course, being ahead of my time, they avoided confrontations with me, never bugged me to be baptised, or whatnot. I called a spade a spade, ask hard questions, and scared them shitless.

  So when I was 16, they let me alone. I feel very bad for those who have family in. It was my step-monster and her family who were associated with the dubs, so I was quite willing to walk away, I was the first in the family to do so however, so I bore the brunt of it. Blazed the path, so to speak.

  Today is the day I sent info about Watchtower to my Dub friend

  oh boy.

  well, today i sent sites regarding un, silent lambs, missile stock, voting, other jw stuff...about 8 links.

  to my friend that i said i wanted to help see watchtower for what it is.. i also told him to be careful....that if he asks hall about it they will say it is apostate or from satan, etc....and to think for himself.. i hope he does not decide i am too dangerous to be friends with.. i would appreciate prayers from any of you who would do so.

  Gregory Peck has died...another legend is gone

  just read on the news that gregory peck passed away last night.

  he was 87. one of my favorites from the great days of movies, handsome and such a great actor.

  he was absolutely brilliant in "to kill a mockingbird.
